Aaron Aubin // BES, MCIP, RPP
Founder and Principal
Aaron established the firm in 2015, after working for more than 20 years in a broad array of disciplines including architecture, community development, land use planning, environmental approvals, infrastructure, and Indigenous engagement. Aaron is active in the Aboriginal community and a member of the Da’naxda’xw / Awaetlala First Nation in British Columbia. He is also a registered professional planner with the Alberta Professional Planners Institute and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. Aaron works across a broad array of disciplines, leading large, complex multidisciplinary projects with Indigenous communities, land developers, industry, and all levels of government. Aaron has led and participated on numerous committees and spoken at several conferences throughout Canada and Internationally, promoting Indigenous community-led planning and engagement. Aaron is very passionate about his work and that of the firm, and this shows through in the meaningful and rewarding work that he and the firm undertake.
Director of Planning and Engagement
James Mazak is a Registered Professional Planner and brings 20+ years of diverse experience in planning, designing, and management of land development projects. He has a comprehensive approach to planning and engagement, as well as expertise in working within complex multi-jurisdictional and sensitive environments. He is also adept at successfully collaborating with diverse clients and community groups to bring about mutually beneficial outcomes. James has extensive experience with project management, organization, design, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, the public, and approving authorities.
James has worked extensively throughout North America leading strategic land acquisitions, land assemblies, due diligence, planning, development approvals of resorts, senior living, care centres, and mixed-use developments. This experience has given him a unique insight into different approaches and practices of planning process and implementation, which has enabled James to develop an effective and efficient approach to evaluating and implementing land development projects.
Senior Planner & Project Manager
Robyn holds a B.A. in Regional and Urban Planning from the University of Saskatchewan and has advanced her career completing numerous courses and programs in project management, leadership, adaptive and systems learning, real estate development and urban design. Robyn has over six years of experience working in a municipal environment where she gained expertise in community and regional land use plan and policy development, public engagement, infrastructure and development planning, and navigating and improving administrative processes. Robyn is committed to advancing Reconciliation through collaborating with Indigenous people, local governments, and private industry to ensure policy, planning and community development reflects Indigenous people in Canada.
Community Planner & Engagement Coordinator
Chad has a passion for using a design-focus approach to create innovative solutions for his clients. He has worked on a range of projects developing engagement and communication plans, facilitating workshops, analyzing workshop feedback, and writing and designing carefully thought out reports. In school Chad specialized in Urban Design during his Masters degree gaining experience in various design software which he applies now on several projects.
Community Planner & Engagement Coordinator
Bronwyn holds a Master of Planning degree with a specialization in urban design. During her graduate studies she was able to enhance her design and visual communication abilities and develop familiarity with multiple software platforms. Bronwyn has experience working with clients to assist in the development of their Indigenous engagement plans, strategies, and policies. In addition, Bronwyn has experience developing materials such as proposals, bulletins, brochures, and final reports.
Ashlene started with the firm in an administrative support role in 2015, and quickly transitioned into her current role of Engagement Coordinator. During her time with the firm, Ashlene has developed experience working with a variety of clients across the country to assist in the development, review, and implementation of their Indigenous engagement plans, strategies, and policies. Ashlene has had extensive experience with the review of technical documents and materials such as proposals, bulletins, newsletters, engagement plans, and final reports. In addition to her editing and review experience, Ashlene also has skills regarding design and layout, report writing, and the development of engagement materials.
Accounting Clerk & Project Administration
Reporting to the company President, Operations Manager, and Project Managers, Mishal is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. Mishal has extensive experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and excellent organizational skills, and strong knowledge of office policies and procedures.
